an amazing gift

So i figured i had better explain these last few weeks. My parents have given us the most amazing gift. They took our kids for a couple of weeks before the baby came... now i admit we expected the baby to have come by now but they haven't complained at all... and it has now been well over 2 weeks. in fact on friday it will be 3 and well we won't really be ready to have them back on friday.. for good reason... which i will comment on later.

anyhow. amazing parents who take their grandchildren need cudos.

Luana is having trouble sleeping so i am having trouble sleeping. so once the sun had come up i decided to go out and look for sacred space in Orangeville... found it.

well Sunday Luana started at 5 and went pretty consistantly until 10 ish so we went in... it was a false alarm... kindof dissappointing

The Path of Spiritual Formation

We have been talking about Spiritual Formation at our college and carreers group at Winchester Arms. I think there are at least 2 parts to spiritual formation.

the informational part or the pursuit of knowledge or spiritual truth or experience
the applicational part or the pursuit of moral transformation.

i don't just want to know more, i want to do more good.

Anyways, last night i was reading the Bible - Proverbs 4:26-27 says Watch the path of your feet And all your ways will be established.
Do not turn to the right nor to the left; Turn your foot from evil.


Last night we were wrestling with how to develop a moral compass in the midst of complex and often changing circumstances, and in the cultural milkshake that is this world.

I think however that there are even greater obstacles to spiritual formation than complex cultural and circumstancial environments. I think people have forgotten or abandoned the value of watching the paths of their feet. They don't fear turning anymore. Right or left. and they don't care where their feet do go.

But for those who would desire to grow spiritually they must do more than learn, they must watch their steps and learn how to walk straight paths.

Watch your step folks!

We had another theology pub tonight. We were trying to figure out how to discern where to orient our moral compass. Met a guy at the bar named Marco who is going to join us next week.

Went to the Doctor's office today...

Luana and i went for a walk. She spent the whole walk contracting and groaning and the like... really affected the atmosphere of a quite night walk...

so i spent the last week tying up loose ends... my wife is going to spring a leak soon... and give me my third child.

so we got things ready for the last week. cleaned house. got the kids off to grandma's. it was good.

the highlight was our "small group" on thursday... we meet at winchester arms and talk about god... good.

loved it. really interesting environment. really great to see the regulars come in and wonder who we were.

not that we were as conspicuous as the Dancing morrisons.... dressed in rag outfits and played instruments and danced on the streets.

interesting. i expect that i will be written off by some for having a church group meet at an establishment like that... but i was also tempted to take photos of the dancers... then people would have lots of reasons to believe i had gone pagan...

i haven't.
